Ten Sunday mornings each year, the Loy
Building is redolent with the wonderful smells of coffee, orange juice,
bacon, sausage, French toast, scrambled eggs, and biscuits. When you open
the front door, you are immediately alerted to the fact that the renowned
catering firm of Bill, Bill, and David (getting by with a little help from
their friends) is scrambling around the kitchen while groups of hungry
locusts (better known as men of the church) are gathering in the
Fellowship Hall. It is the third Sunday of the month and Presbyterian Men
are meeting for breakfast.
Each month, with the exception of July
and August, all men of the church are invited to gather for great food and
even better fellowship. Sometimes we meet just as a group of men and other
times we play host to groups such as the Confirmation Class, the Session,
the Sunday School, or the whole congregation. Sometimes we have guest
speakers who provide us with information about Christian concerns and
other times we just share the fellowship of an eclectic, interesting group
of guys.
We are young, we are old, and we are in
between. What we have in common is a caring for our religion and our
church and a respect for each other. There are neither membership
requirements nor dues, neither initiation rituals nor exorbitant
obligations. In fact, they only rule we have is that you show up with an
appetite (We’ll even waive that and let you get by on coffee and orange
juice if you prefer).
Mark your calendar and join us at 8:30
a.m. in the Loy Building. You’ll be glad you did and so will we.
