Jacob Hackenburg meets Governor Perdue

Governor Perdue and North Carolina Boy Scouts
Roanoke
Rapids Boy Scout Reports to the Governor of North Carolina at the 100th
Anniversary of Scouts
On February 8th, 2010 The Boy Scouts of America celebrated their 100th
Anniversary with 100 Boy Scouts representing the 100 counties of North
Carolina. Life Scout and Roanoke Rapids Native Jacob Hackenburg was
chosen to represent the county of Halifax. Hackenburg is involved with
Troop 411 chartered by the First Presbyterian Church of Roanoke Rapids.
Hackenburg, along with 99 other scouts attended 3 church services during
Sunday and Monday's festivities in Raleigh. While their the Scouts did a
"Report to the Governor" about service projects that will be done by the
Scouts during 2010. Jacob, a freshmen at Roanoke Rapids High School got
to meet Governor Perdue along with State Supreme Court Justice Newby who
spoke to him about his time in scouts. The scouts also marched in the
100th Anniversary Parade which ended at the State Capitol.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Angel’s Closet needs lots of hands (adults & youth) to help pack for
the upcoming move to their new location. Packing day is SATURDAY,
JANUARY 16 beginning at 9:00 AM, & lasting until the job is completed.
Please show up at the Medlin School located at 237 Vance Street anytime
after 9:00 AM and enter through the main entrance to the school. Please
